Day One Hundred Eighteen

County Property or a Bigger Greener Lawn?

IMG_20130428_113147The first thing we noticed was all of the green along the Old Plank Road Trail.  After such a cool, late spring, we welcomed the color!  Today, we headed back to the 21 mile trail converted from an unused rail line and walked between Miles 17.4 and 19 (and back).  I have less than 5 miles of this trail yet to cover in order to complete my goal of walking the entire trail.

We started our walk in New Lenox and then headed west into Joliet.  Much of the trail has residential areas on both sides with some of the least privacy that we’ve seen along the OPRT.  Many people even maintain lawns all the way to the trail, despite the Will County Forest Preserve signage at the property lines (facing the houses) stating that it’s county property.  There must be more to that story!

Good day, good walk.
